Companhia Portuguesa de Bailado Contemporâneo (CPBC) was founded in 1998 by Vasco Wellenkamp and Graça Barroso.  Conceived as an original repertoire company, as an element in line with the aesthetic language of its founder and main choreographer, CPBC is a structure where choreographers, dancers, creators and performers from various areas can research, develop and mature their languages, not forgetting the its main repertoire choreographed by Vasco Wellenkamp. In parallel with its regular programming, the company develops educational programs specially designed for children, promotes talks, welcomes various emerging artists and structures and workshops aimed at professionals and students from various areas of the performing arts. The fundamental mission of CPBC is an education to promote dance as an art form at the service of the development of sensibility, the formation of aesthetics, education and new studies to make its work known to audiences in a transversal way. In this sense, it includes his choreographic works and initiatives to form audiences that can be culturally and socially integrated in different contexts and according to the needs of each region. Recognized for the unmistakable trace of the artistic line that identifies it, CPBC has planned for a dance of Portuguese dance in the national and international panorama.
